I received a package from Lark Crafts last week but was so busy with other things that I put it aside without opening it. Forgive me, please? But if you're out shopping today or tomorrow and still need a stocking stuffer for a friend or something to give yourself cheer, please take a look at these wonderful small (5.25"x5.25") treasures that make up the Lark Studio Series collection: Art Tiles, Handmade Books, Chairs, Tables, Ceramic Sculptures, Handmade Dolls, Earrings, and Pendants.
Each and every one of these little volumes contains a large impact of beauty. These are similar to the 500 Series, but in smaller dosage. I love them! For their size. For their simplicity. For their contents. And you and your friends will as well.
And because Lark was kind enough to send me not only my review copies but an extra set to share with you, my friends, I can treat one of you to your own complete set while keeping one for myself! :) What a great Christmas gift for me and, I hope, great New Year's present for a lucky reader! I will gladly mail these anywhere. (n.b.: I have not received any compensation from Lark for my reviews.)
So, leave a comment here, sharing your favorite New Year's tradition or one of your resolutions for 2012. Deadline for entering is midnight (Eastern Time) on Friday, December 30th. I will announce the winner on New Year's Eve Day. To collect your prize, you will have to check back here by January 4th ... which is the deadline for you to contact me with your mailing information. I will draw an alternate name if I don't hear from you by then. ;) (This way, you don't have to leave your email or store address here, just your name...and I don't have to worry about trying to find you.)
We had a little snow earlier today, but now it's just cold. The system that has closed down interstate highways in other parts of New Mexico has spared us. For that I am thankful.
Be well!
Be safe!
Celebrate with joy!

OOH!! They look like fun ;)
ReplyDeleteLiebe Carol Dean,
Hugs
Barbara
I would love these books, too! I can understand why you do. They look fabulous! Hope your holidays are joyful and happy, Carol Dean. Thank you for all you've given me this (my first) year in beading. I love your patterns & your blog!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, me thinks you receive too much mail, if you let a package sit beyond one day...Just kidding!!
ReplyDeleteMy New Year's Resolution for this year is to remove myself from guilt! I'm going to keep in touch with friends who are far away, call before someone has to call me, and remember important days before having to be reminded.
The book set looks very interesting! I would love to add it to my collection.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest resolution for this new year is to try to shed the pounds I gained when I quit smoking (it will be 2 years on Jan. 1). I am very proud of myself for sticking to that resolution that I made 2 years ago. I also want to complete several of the beading projects that I have started. And I am going to learn how to do odd count peyote (I vow not to run away in fear any longer).
Have not even started thinking about new year resolutions! Though I think adding one skill to my jewelry making will be on the list, now to decide :clay, metal, or mixed?1.
ReplyDeleteMy New Year's Resolution is to cheer up.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty picture- all those books lined up waiting to be read! Thank you for the chance to own them! On New Years Eve the hubster loves to watch the Twilight Zone marathon so usually I fall asleep before midnight!
ReplyDeleteAmazing gift!
ReplyDeleteNot a New Year's tradition, but a Christmas Eve tradition -- everyone opens one gift and it's a Christmas ornament.
As for resolutions for next year, I want to get my regular writing (not beading stuff) published.
Happy Holidays, CD! My resolution this year is to do more stretching and cycling - when your exercise routine is basically getting out of bed and getting dressed and you find yourself winded - you know it's time to take better care.
ReplyDeleteCheers!~
Merry Christmas, CD! I would love to win these books! I have an ecopy of the pendants book, but to have the whole set would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteMy resolution is to be more 'in the moment' in 2012 than ever before.
Happy Holidays!! XXO-
Oooo, love it and would love to win this gorgeous prize!
ReplyDeleteMy resolution in 2012 is to enjoy life more!
And to get my new webshop up and running, but that kinda conflicts with the 1st resolution LOL :-)
Merry X-mas!!!
Carol Dean, these look like wonderful little books.
ReplyDeleteMy resolutions is always the same to continue to be the best person I can be, helpful, thoughtful, and kind. This may not sound like something that is hard to do, but believe me there are times when it is a struggle for me in my day job.
Merry Christmas and all the best to you in the coming New Year,
Therese
I forgive you for not opening the package right away. My resolution for the New Year is to really get my business off the ground. I made my first official sale yesterday and it felt so good! Merry Christmas, Carol Dean!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway! These little books look awesome. Have a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a bit sad, that I've been reading your blog for more than a year by now and the first comment i make is for a giveaway.. but better late than never;)
ReplyDeleteThe books look way too good to not give it a try!
One specific New Years tradition that i've always liked is the "pooring of the luck" I come from Estonia (a small country in Europe) and this centuries old tradition is still slightly kept alive there. How it looks like is that some tin (the metal) is melted in a special ladle until it turns liquid and then quickly tossed into a bowl filled with ice-cold water. The tin hardens then and takes really beautiful shapes and our ancestors used to tell fortune for the coming year after these figures.. I just love how it can turn into pretty small sculptures!
But it's soooo important to be careful, since melted tin is so hot.. Once a friend of mine got a bit scared when poring the tin into the water and splashed it at us, who stood around her.. it was pure luck, that we ended with only small wholes in our clothes!
New Years resolution will be to learn at least one new technique every month, read at least one good book every month and do at least one unselfish act of good every month.
Merry Christmas
I've made this resolution before, but I keep trying! I really need to clean up and organize my sewing room so that I can actually make something. It's really been holding me up. Happy holidays, Carol!
ReplyDeleteCarol, just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas. And hope for your continued awesomeness in the new year.
ReplyDeleteI esed to have very weird New Year's tradition :-) When I was a child someone told me to write my dreams and expectations for coming year, burn the piece of paper and drink the ash with glass of New Year's champagne (ok, it was juice then) to make the dreams come true. I have been doing so for several years and, believe or not, it was working... I quit it for some time but this year I have so many unsolved issues and problems that only glass of sparkling wine with ash can help me.... We will know... Best wishes for all of you :-)
ReplyDeleteThe only resolution I've decided on so far is to finish one UnFinished Object a month in 2012. One a month maybe doesn't sound like such a hard job, but with two kids and a full-time job, it's not going to leave much time for new projects. But still! Time to get some of this clutter out of my crafting room!
ReplyDeleteI want to get back on track in 2012 and enter a few more quilt shows. Also hope to improve my machine quilting. Oh, not a resolution, but have 5 bridesmaid dresses to make by August, and maybe a mom of the bride outfit for myself.
ReplyDeletewell... I can't resist. So... I want to stop smoking (OK telling that each year but this time...), I want to go on with my diet and lose some more pounds...I want to bead, bead and bead and above all, I want to remain here for you my dear friend§
ReplyDeleteLove your work; inspiring!
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet little books! Thank you and Lark for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteI usually avoid New Year's resolutions, but for 2012 I'm resolving to: Focus on Today. Simple, but it covers many different obstacles I tend to put in my own path.
Happy New Year to you!
Our New Years tradition is a new one (the last 2 years and this one).
ReplyDeleteThe local council have a Party in the Park, which is a fun night of entertainment, music and fireworks. The park is a favourite with an amazing playground for the kids.
We go with the family and take cheese and crackers and other nibbly foods and just enjoy. We hardly see the kids, the flies are bad and the spiders worse, but it is a simple not-so-quiet evening that is enjoyed by all :)
Have a very safe and happy new year all!!
My resolution this year for 2012 is to be the best person i can possibly be!
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice collection to add to anyone's collection!!! My new year's resolution is to try to get through some of these patterns that I have purchased in 2011. :D And hopefully buy some more patterns in 2012. I'm sure there will be some that will catch my attention. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great set and a great addition to a beader's library.
ReplyDeleteThe only resolution I've made so far is to drink at least the recommended eight glasses of water a day. That I need to exercise too goes without saying.
Our tradition is to raise a glass of champagne and to remember all the family members, those we love(d)forever and ever, with a wish: "La Multzi Ani!"
ReplyDeleteMy new year resolution is to exercise more.
Thank you for doing this, Carol Dean, I would love to have those pretty books in my library!
Happy New Year, La Multzi Ani!!!~ Ileana
What a great thought. Looking back at what I've learned, I see I need to work on the connectors, and all those zillion engineering type parts for jewelry. Oh, and exercise more. Traditions? Hmmm. In Texas it was calming the dogs after all the fireworks let off, but here, perhaps a quiet cup of lemon tea and visualizing a good 2012.
ReplyDeleteEste blog é uma representação exata de competências. Eu gosto da sua recomendação. Um grande conceito que reflete os pensamentos do escritor. Consultoria RH
ReplyDeleteWhat cool books! We (me, myself, I, and Alex) would go nuts looking through them and grabbing bits of inspiration!
ReplyDeleteMy resolution for 2012 is to regain structure in my life. As I have been sick for so long, I tend to do what I can do when I can do it, and I fear having to schedule anything or to plan ahead as I hate feeling like I failed or I let someone down who was relying on me. I want to add some sort of framework, some sort of way of planning what I need to get done, that respects my limitations and fluctuations, so I can once again focus on my art and my kid and have the constraints and the space that exists in the negative space of those borders, to create and to stop ignoring my non-physical needs and let them flourish. My heart, my soul, my brain, my child, all need this on a good day, but it has been so long that need has turned into loud demands.
I feel like I've got my toes hanging over a diving board and I'm ready to jump in. I don't care how cold the water is!
Hi Carol, I too would love to have those lovely books in my library. Our Italian tradition is to have lentil soup on New Year's Eve...so I will be soaking some lentils in the morning. I don't give things up for the year but rather add new positive items to my list. This year will be to be even more positive. I always try to get s serious person to smile. I will pray a little more and do a few more random acts of kindness. Have a peaceful and painless new year, dear. Dona
ReplyDeleteLooks like a cool set of books.
ReplyDeleteI do not usually make resolutions because they tend to go by the wayside. But... I need to exercise and get in shape. And world peace :-)
Thanks Carol!
Susan Reardon
What sweet little books sitting their waiting to explode with so much inspiration packed inside. This would be a great addition to anyone's home library. This past year was my first time making an honest attempt at a resolution. It was to start a website, and do it myself. Well I did it. I started it and it looks good, now to finish it, and get it out to the public.
ReplyDeleteFor my new year's resolution, I want to find balance between family time with hubby and kids, beading, and time spent online with website stuff. Oh, and learn to drive! (30 something and I don't know how to drive yet ;) Have an awesome, bright and shiny New Year to everyone!!
I've never seen these books before? I want them. lol I have so many books and magazines, I really do not NEED them.....but I want them. =oD
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection! My resolution is to bead as much as possible in 2012! :)
