Because of some issues with my neck and lower back, I have had to change how I sit when I bead. It used to be that I sat at the edge of my big easy chair, hunched over the huge ottoman that had my work tray on it, while my elbows rested on my knees. Please don't try to visualize that; it didn't make for a pretty picture. It made for some marathon beading sessions.
Well, now I sit in my new Stressless chair (oh yeah!) and keep the work tray on my lap. Trying to move my eyes more and my head less. That makes working from patterns a little more difficult and definitely a lot more time consuming. For a while there, I was not doing any major work from patterns, but I couldn't not bead. Nope, not beading was just not an option. It would make for a very miserable Carol Dean.
The result is a new line of pieces that don't require my looking at anything but the beads on my tray and the work in my hands: Ribbed Peyote BANGLES!!!! I love making these, I love wearing these, and I hope you will like them as well.
What inspired them? The cuffs on my favorite sweaters. ;)

And so, there you have it. Bangles at Sand Fibers! Yes, there will be a tutorial/pattern. No, I do not know when. ;)
Be well and get going, my friends! Thank you for your patience with me and my blogging these last few months. ;)

ReplyDeleteThe Candy Bar Trio are excellent! Sorry to hear about your back problems, I too work around my back issues. Beading isn't necessarily easy on our posture, but not beading will never be an option (I hope) for many of us. Glad to see you are keeping busy!
