Saturday Window Shopping with Sand Fibers

Today is the anniversary of an important beginning for me:  four years ago today I opened my Sand Fibers Etsy shop. What a wonderful adventure this has turned out to be. Thank you to everyone who has supported my work!

To celebrate, I will refund 10% of any order this weekend if you leave "Happy 4th!" in the Notes to Seller. This offer is valid through midnight Etsy/Eastern time on Sunday. It CAN be combined with any other offer I have going right now ;)

I've decided that I will have another significant Sand Fibers GiveAway to mark the anniversary of my first SALE on Etsy:  March 22.  Any ideas for what I could give away?

And now for the business at hand, a window shopping stroll down the color COBALT on Etsy.

BAO Item of the Week (February 26 - March 4)

I came up with (and beaded!) another new design this week, which made it the perfect choice for this week's Bead Art Originals Item of the Week.

Purchase and pay for this by midnight on Thursday AND mention "BAO" in the Notes to Seller, and I will include a surprise gift in your package. I promise you won't be disappointed! (And for you beaders out there, yes, the pattern will be available soon...as this coming Tuesday's Pattern.)

Visit the Bead Art Originals blog for details on these other twelve Items of the Week.

I hope your Friday is productive and fun. If you are in those snow storms on the East Coast, please be safe! Be well and get going, my friends.

Thursday's Treasur(i)es, a new pattern, and some NEWS

It's Thursday, which means it's my day to say thank you to the lovely curators who chose to feature my work in their treasuries on Etsy. I am so lucky!!!

Cuff me!!....in blue

Her Breaking Waves Bracelet - EBW February Challenge would have felt right at home in this wonderful sea of blue.

Thank you so much to the wonderful Etsians who have singled out my creations for their beautiful treasuries! I get such a thrill every time I see a gold star next to a list :D

As promised, I have published the pattern for Scotties on Houndstooth. The pdf pattern file includes graphs and word charts for two versions of the cuff: one as pictured on the cover

and one as shown (distorted, of course, to protect copyright) here:

And now to some not completely unrelated news:  because 3 for 2 pattern specials at Sand Fibers have been so popular,

I will institute a permanent 3-for-2 deal on "for personal use only"  Sand Fibers pattern editions, effective March 1, 2010

(the current sale runs through the end of February, so there is no gap).  This "deal" applies only to patterns purchased in the same order. You will not be able to buy a pattern on Monday, come back and buy one on Tuesday, and receive a third free. I hope this pleases you ;)

Be well and get going!

Tuesday's Pattern #18 and going to the dogs

A few days ago, I finally managed to bead and list the 1" wide alternative to my Ribbon Dance design.

Both the "for personal use only" and "for personal AND commercial use" editions are now listed on Etsy. I should have them available on ArtFire shortly as well.

On Friday I had a silly, fun idea for another in my The Iconographs series and couldn't rest until I had it realized in beads.

I will be publishing the pattern for this later in the week. I will, of course, let you know as soon as I make it available.  The pattern will include this version as well as one in which the Scotties are not upside down to each other.

Can you believe it actually snowed (okay, dusted snow ;p) here again last night. We had two 70 degree days last week. Crazy!

 2-23-10 The Orchard (Day 54 0800 hours)

By the way, for those of you who might be interested, I've started a blog for my The Pecan Orchard 365 project. Also, in a month or so, I will be opening a store for The Sharpe Pecan Farm on etsy, offering this last season's shelled pecan harvest.

If you're interested in being notified when the store opens and in receiving a discount code for your first order, leave a comment here ;)

Tuesday's Patterns #17 - We have a ringer!

I realize that it's Wednesday.  Right after I got the pattern listed on Etsy last night, my internet service went out and didn't come back until shortly before it was time to go to bed. I was too tired (and frustrated!) to post at that time.

On Saturday, I shared with you that I would no longer be making Hugs and Kisses cuffs.  I think I have something that might serve as a ringer. And it's been part of my repertoire for two years! You may recall...

Made with the right closure,

it too becomes completely reversible, with a convex and a concave profile. I made one in silver ...

and then I made another, smaller one (using 2-drop, instead of 3-drop) in silver as well.

These are in even count peyote, rather than the odd count Hugs and Kisses is worked in.  They are also much gentler on my hands and psyche than the other pattern.

I'm offering both Ripples - Large and Small - in one pattern package:

I realize that most beaders don't require this gentle reminder, but some do:  Please don't copy my designs from photographs. The patterns for most are available at a reasonable price. If you see a design you would like to try and I don't have the pattern for it published yet, contact me and I'll get it published as soon as I can. Thank you.

Now...be well and get going!
