When my Bead Art Originals teammate Darcy Horn of thejadedog saw this piece on my Facebook page,
she suggested that I add it to her "Embellishing the Runway" flickr group. Darcy thought that my necklace would make a great accessory for the winning entry of Week 2 on Project Runway, Season 8:
If I had been designing the necklace specifically for this piece, I probably would have used the smoke colored beads for the rope instead of the bronze, but I do think that the pendant would do a nice job of underscoring the great neckline on this jumper.
So I joined the "Embellishing the Runway" group last week. When I first saw the winner for Week 3, my thoughts went to black shiny and matte triangle beads in an ndebele rope.
which was fine until I saw Darcy's creation for this week, a wonderful ndebele rope! LOL
Great minds might think alike, but I surely didn't want to be thought of as having copied. Time to change directions, really change directions. The result, only my second bangle-style design:
While I wasn't able to take advantage of the triangle beads' sharp angles (to reflect those in the dress), I think this does capture some of the color and texture of the winning look. And I'm thrilled with my design, which is what really matters, right?
I'm thinking this might make a good piece to offer in kit form. Any thoughts on that?
Oh, and lest I forget - Look what Morwyn of AnotherCountry created for Week 3, wonderful knitted bangles using ribbon. You can see more about their creation on her blog.
I hope you are able to stay cool and comfortable today. Now be well and get going!
