Thursday's Treasur(i)es

If this week's treasury appearances are any indication, my mirrored swirls design is popular right now ;D

Warm me Up

nanouke included my Mirrored Orange Swirls on Steel Peyote Cuff in this collection.

nanouke's own, wonderful Orange Lollypop Ring with its gorgeous orange glow would have been right at home in this list.

Make you dizzy?

MorningStarArts included my Hypnotize Me Peyote Cuff in this collection.

MorningStarArts' very own Swirl Necklace (no. 577) may well have been the inspiration for her dizzy-ing treasury.

Thank you so much to the wonderful Etsians who have singled out my creations for their beautiful treasuries! I get such a thrill every time I see a gold star next to a list :D

Golden Meadow

I'm done. I finished the second necklace for Lisa Peters' Bead & Button booth and mailed it and Spring Glacier out this afternoon.

This one started with another glorious, hexagonal raku cabochon.

 Raku Cab

When I first saw this cab, I was concerned about covering too much of it up with the bezel, but I think I did it justice after all.

Golden Meadow - A Beadwoven Necklace with Raku Focal

I used 24kt gold-plated rose iris beads that echo the colors of the glaze brilliantly. The twisted ndebele rope uses the gold beads as well as nickel-plated steel delicas to pick up on the "glacier" glaze on the flower portion of the cab. Too much gold would have been just that: too much.

And here's the back, for those (like me) who care about such things:

Golden Meadow backside

The cabs for both this and Spring Glacier were glued to stiff felt, surrounded by bead embroidery, and bezeled with peyote stitch. I then added ultra suede backings and did some more work with peyote. I really enjoy this finished look on the back. The additional stitching is completely unnecessary for construction purposes, but it does add that little something...the Sand Fibers touch perhaps ;)

Thanks for stopping by for another "show & tell." Be well and get going!

Tuesday's Triangle

I'm working on the new Simplicity line, so the next few Tuesday's Triangles may very well be pieces like this:

I needed to practice twisted ndebele (which I haven't worked with in over a year) for another project, so this was the perfect "victim." I love the extra dimension the subtle twist adds to the piece and may well use it again in the future.

The gold beads are 24 kt plated brite gold delicas. I don't know that there are more beautiful delicas to be had ;) Used with the black, they are at once elegant, dramatic, and timeless.

Thanks for stopping by for this 33rd installment of Tuesday's Triangle. Be well and get going!

Spring Glacier

Several months ago, my raku queen friend Lisa Peters sent me this drop-dead gorgeous cabochon, from her Glacier Series

 Glacier Series

She asked if I could do something memorable with this in time for the Bead & Button Show in June. Yikes. That deadline got here so much sooner than I thought it would or even could.

When I see a hexagon, my mind breaks it into triangle segments. It's rather sad this addiction of mine, but I had to feed it. And so I took rhodium and sterling silver plated delicas and added them to two different bead soups and made triangles, 18 of them to be precise. Two of the 18 I attached directly to the pendant assembly.

Then I added the remaining 16.

And a double toggle closure.

The results are something that really shines and twinkles in sunlight ;)

I'm even pleased with its backside.

I hope this is memorable.

Tuesday's Triangle

What's this murmuring and mumbling I hear? You want your triangle? All right, already. Just for my being later than usual, I give you a Jungle of Triangles to behold:

WIP A jungle of triangles

WIP Triangle Jungle

Pretty cool, eh? These are part of a much larger project. My only hint: Lisa Peters!

I also managed to decide on a name for the new line of simpler bracelets I showed you last week: (Insert name of color) Simplicity: A Beadwoven Bracelet... which makes this "White and Turquoise Simplicity: A Beadwoven Bracelet"

White and Turquoise Simplicity - A Beadwoven Bracelet (2392)

White and Turquoise Simplicity - A Beadwoven Bracelet (2392)

It also qualifies as another Tuesday's Triangle, so you're getting your money's worth this afternoon. ;D

And while I have you here, let me do a little Happy Dance for the Front Page appearances on Etsy, yesterday afternoon

5-18-09 Front Page

and this morning

5-19-09 Front Page

They may have had just a little bit to do with my reaching a milestone yesterday:

And on these happy notes (for me at least), I bid you a happy evening. Be well and get going!

Playing with Another New Idea

I've been wanting to create a line of simpler, smaller pieces of beadwoven jewelry with appeal to women of all ages who are looking for, well, for less. I think I've achieved the simplicity I aimed for without being boring, because nobody should have to pay a penny for b o r i n g.

Simple New Bracelet Design

Simple New Bracelet Design

This first piece went out to a young clothing designer as a part of a trade. I hope she loves it :D

I hope yours is a wonderful weekend! Be well and get going, but be sure to come back here on Monday for a new BAO Item of the Week ;)
