Another Artisan Clay Collaboration and a Give-Away

I just finished the fourth piece for Kristie Roeder's (artisanclay's) booth at Philadelphia Bead Fest this month. I struggled with finding the right beads to use with her lovely ceramic and glass cab, but I think I finally did:

And now to the GIVE-AWAY:

I have some (brand new) ties that I have been finding homes for. This one is so super that it deserves some special attention.

Here's the deal: leave a comment to this post (be sure to include a way for me to contact you!) by midnight on Wednesday telling me about your beading hero(s). I will use my trust random number generator to select a winner...so don't just put me down because you think you can butter me up. (I don't work that way ;o).

I will announce the winner in my Thursday's Treasur(i)es post this week.

Your "Mother Nature Made This!" shot of the day:

The Storm That Never Happened

7-5-09 the storm that never happened 1

I took this shot about a month ago.

Now be well and get going (enjoy what's left of your weekend)!

  1. Aha! This is where you put it. *whew* I didn't think I would make it. I've been waiting for Superman, you see.

A beading hero, huh? My goodness, there are so many and I'm afraid of naming them lest I (1)leave someone out and/or (2)offend someone else for not naming them as my hero(ine). So here is my definition of a beading hero:

Anyone who takes the time to pass on information to anyone else about beading without expecting something in return is a beading hero.

Good luck to the rest of the contestants (my fingers are crossed, though!).

  3. My beading heroe is a heroine ... Mariposa. She's the oppsite of my way of beading. I start with an idea in my head, .. try and error.
She first has an idea, then creates a plan, than sometimes builds a beading- crash test dummie and THEN she builds the project. And at least she tought me so many things about beads and everything according to beads that I can never give it back to her AND... she's my best friend ;-)

  4. Heavens, I'm blushing! But, Trytobe, you just took the words right out of my mouth:
MY absolute beading heroine is Try-to-be-better.
    http://try-to-be-better.blogspot.com/
    - her brains are an endless pond of creativity and fantasy
    - her hands are so quick it's hard to follow with the eyes
    - she thinks "beads". She did creative work for her whole life, but I guess, beads are her very own homeland.

While I think of and put down and think of and put down again 1 project in my mind, she has at least tried out 3-4 projects and most times they work out. Ok, the documentation afterwards is sometimes...a little difficult :-)
But up to now, she always managed it.

Concerning beads, she and me really are two sides of one medal. AND she is my best friend :-))

  5. My beading heroes are the girls that I get together with on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis (depending on where they live) to share inspiration, techniques, and beads. :)

as for my beading hero... it's got to be Sherry Serafini!!! I'm just a little bit obsessed by her incredible beadwork! :-)

  7. Carol, this piece is gorgeous! Your beadwork really enhances that wonderful cab - great colors and textures!!

My beading hero... any number of beaders who have made me sit up and take notice; who have made me realize that the "lowly seed bead" can be used to create the most incredible art. Also the many beaders who have moved me to the point where I want to jump in and give it a try. Among those folks are the beaders whom I discovered many years ago - Heidi Kummli, Sherry Serafini, Diane Fitzgerald, Joyce Scott, David Chatt - as well as those folks who got me off my duff and put a needle into my hand - Carol Wilcox Wells, Carol Huber Cypher, my friend and collaboration buddy Nanette Young-Greiner, and Carol Dean Sharpe. Yes, YOU, Carol!
