Golden Meadow

I'm done. I finished the second necklace for Lisa Peters' Bead & Button booth and mailed it and Spring Glacier out this afternoon.

This one started with another glorious, hexagonal raku cabochon.

 Raku Cab

When I first saw this cab, I was concerned about covering too much of it up with the bezel, but I think I did it justice after all.

I used 24kt gold-plated rose iris beads that echo the colors of the glaze brilliantly. The twisted ndebele rope uses the gold beads as well as nickel-plated steel delicas to pick up on the "glacier" glaze on the flower portion of the cab. Too much gold would have been just that: too much.

And here's the back, for those (like me) who care about such things:

The cabs for both this and Spring Glacier were glued to stiff felt, surrounded by bead embroidery, and bezeled with peyote stitch. I then added ultra suede backings and did some more work with peyote. I really enjoy this finished look on the back. The additional stitching is completely unnecessary for construction purposes, but it does add that little something...the Sand Fibers touch perhaps ;)

Thanks for stopping by for another "show & tell." Be well and get going!

  1. Very beautiful Carol! The cab, and the beading!

  2. Though I think your work is without peer, the combination of your beading and Lisa's raku is greater than the sum of its parts. Splendid!
