Where to begin?

We had a little (false) medical scare yesterday and so I spent a good part of my day (waiting) in the Emergency Room with my sweet mother-in-law. Thank goodness everything seems to be okay on that end. Of course, I'm behind on my posts now, so bear with me as this might be a long one.

Bead Art Originals Item of the Week (Dec 29 - Jan 4)

I have loved amber since I was a young girl living in northern Germany. For my confirmation gifts, I asked for and received beautiful jewelry with wonderful Baltic amber focal pieces. Sadly, I lost most of those pieces in a burglary several years later. (For the record, I have lost all my jewelry twice in home burglaries. For much of my late twenties and early thirties, I refused to buy any replacement pieces because they would only be stolen...somewhere along the line I changed my mind about that ;o).

Anyway...it should be no surprise that I used amber in my jewelry from the very start. This cuff was woven using Czech seed beads in silver lined topaz, beads that work beautifully with the amber embelishment on top.

Tuesday's Triangle

When we got home from our long day of waiting yesterday, I actually looked forward to making this triangle for today.

These soft, sparkly beads are impossible to photograph! But they are so very gorgeous in any light.

I never received my contributor's copies of the Jan/Feb 2009 Step by Step Beads magazine, so I've had to wait for its news stand release to share this with you.

Knitted Goodies

I spent Christmas Eve knitting a neck warmer for my brother who often rides his motorcycle to work. When we got home from a lovely Christmas celebration with him and my mother-in-law, I didn't want to put the knitting needles and yarn away just yet. The results are now in the store, with more to come. The Fiber in Sand Fibers is definitely calling me!

And then there's this little bracelet made from alpaca yarn and memory wire that's really a lovely wrist warmer in its own right. I can decide whether to keep it for myself or to list it in the store. I guess I could always list this and make another for myself.
