I lied.

Yesterday's pendant evolved a little and so you get to see one more step before necklace-hood.

Work in Progress - Redux

A friend (MaryLou of time2cre8)remarked on my tiny stitches. Eeks! I don't care how tiny they were, they weren't supposed to be noticed. Had to do something about that immediately, so I added two rows of beading to hide the nasty offenders.

Then I started work on the "go-with" cuff.

Preview of Cuff

You'll get to see it (with appropriate toggle closure added) and the necklace in all their completed glory tomorrow.

All Things Handmade

If you haven't checked it out yet, I strongly recommend that you do. The collection of Etsy minis results in a visual delight, all nicely sorted by categories and subcategories, so that you can do your window and online shopping in a more targeted fashion. Enjoy!

We Proudly Introduce:

cover for signature cuff pattern

Now available for purchase and download (as a pdf file) at

This is what the listing says:

I've decided to make a few of my peyote cuff patterns available for purchase. This way you can make your own cuff, with your own beads, in your own time.

The first of these patterns is for my popular signature cuff, which is created in 2-drop peyote. The pdf file includes

1. a large, detailed, numbered graph of the pattern,
2. a word chart of the pattern
3. tips on how to resize the pattern, finish the cuff, and select beads.

Please note that my patterns do not include instructions for how to do the peyote stitch.

I will email the pdf file to you within 24 hours of receiving notification of payment. If you have any questions as you work with the pattern, I will be happy to help as much as I can. :)

Please note the following important information:

By purchasing this pattern, you agree to using it only for your personal, non-commercial use. Purchase of this pattern does not give you permission to copy this pattern for your friends nor does purchase give you the permission to create something from this pattern to sell (even to a friend or at a charity event or your local craft fair).

If you are interested in selling items created from this pattern, please contact me to arrange for a separate licensing agreement.

And the donut goes to

According to Mrs. Glosser's random number generator, the donut pendant goes to comment #18 of the 60 comments that were left for the March drawing.

Comment #18 was left by Ann of MyFairLadyVT4, a fellow beadweaver! Congratulations, Ann! I will contact her for her snail mail privately, and this pendant should be on its way Monday morning. I insist on seeing what she does with this! ;)

Peach Aventurine Donut 1

In case you're wondering, the Etsy BeadWeavers Stormy Weather Challenge was won by this gorgeous creation -

What a beauty!

When I grow up, I want to sell donuts

If I had said that to either of my parents, well . . . not good. But now, now it's a totally different story.

I listed this red jasper beauty yesterday, and it has already received a good number of views. I'm happy ;)

I decided that the simple braided leather choker was best for this piece, nothing fussy. Even a very confident man could wear this one.

And this is what our weather in southern New Mexico has been like the past few days. Don't you envy me the dust and the tangled hair?

3-14-08 Windswept Treasury

But, since these are pretty much the worst of our weather woes, I really don't have anything to complain about.

p.s. Winner of the other donut pendant will be announced tomorrow, so check back :)

Some Reds aren't Roses

Red seems to be my color of late. I listed this cuff this morning:

High Drama in Red and Black Peyote Cuff (2207)

I then found an empty slot for Treasury West and couldn't resist.

1600 Blessings

Etsy has a feature that allows you to mark an item or even an entire shop as a "favorite" . . . that action translates into a "heart" for that item/shop.

My shop received its 1600th heart this morning. A big "thank you!" to each and every one of you who are in this group!

Custom Orders Expand My Repertoire!

I love custom orders. Every single time someone asks, "Would you . . .?" or "What if . . .?" -- it results in my adding something new to my collection of designs. A direct infusion of inspiration.

The latest request was for a red version of my black and grey triangle ring.

Shades of Black and Grey Triangle Peyote Ring

The customer asked for reds in the blue-red rather than orange-red range and for shiney rather than matte. This is what I came up with and sent (photo) to her for comment:

I just wasn't comfortable that that had the same "feel" as the black/grey she liked, so I went ahead and made this for her to look at.

Shades of Red Triangle Peyote Ring (2206)

She chose the second one.

What to do with the other piece? Well, I've had this cuff in my list of offerings and it uses one of the reds.

I love it when a plan comes together!!!!

Where have all the young men gone?

The treasury came open and I couldn't think of a pretty theme this time, or maybe I didn't want to.

3-5-08 Where have all the young men gone Treasury

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone?
Girls have picked them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young girls gone?
Taken husbands every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young men gone?
Gone for soldiers every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone?

Reasons to google yourself!

There's more than just ego-stroking involved in my doing a search on "Sand Fibers" and/or "Carol Dean Sharpe." If ever there was doubt, this morning erased it. Look what I found:

What to do?

I would really appreciate any comments (nice! polite!) you could make on this blog encouraging her to pay me for the unauthorized use of my pattern. Thanks!

UPDATE: The post has been removed.

My Artistic Contribution

My only artistic contribution to the world (in the form of this weekend is a compilation of other folk's wonderful creations, a tribute to the color YELLOW. An old theme in this blog as any long time reader might recall.

3-1-08 sufferin' succatash Treasury

We've been discussing what colors we use, on the Etsy BeadWeavers blog as well as in the Etsy forums, so this seemed like a fitting theme for a treasury when the opportunity presented itself. (How many cliches can this woman use in one post?!)
